What do you expect from your business?
Growth is not about gaining volume but power and influence over your future.
The other day, a chart showed China surpassing the US in GDP in the next few years.
Some people saw this as the umpteenth decline of US influence worldwide, but I, like Warren Buffet, would never bet against America.
Does anyone still think that Americans believe that, in absolute value, they will continue to have a higher GDP than China? We are talking about a population five times theirs.
That's why you don't see them worrying.
I learned years ago not to follow other people's metrics.
For China, the volume may matter, but for the US, it's power and influence. Ask yourself: do you watch Chinese or American series, and on which platform do you watch them, which messaging service do you use, and where is the device on which you watch this content thought out and designed?
Comparing countries and companies requires first knowing the goals and values of all of them. Otherwise, it is like comparing apples and pears: they are both fruits but not the same.
