Let’s make the cheeky ones uncomfortable instead of the good ones
Have you ever found yourself playing with two children, and one of them gets angry for no reason?
Any psychologist will tell you to keep playing with the one who is still happy, but we are human, and we tend to approach the angry one to try to convince them while the happy one stares at us, looking less and less comfortable.
Sometimes, we prepare our companies with the cheeky ones in mind while we make the good ones uncomfortable.
And when the exemplary ones seem unmotivated, we try to motivate them with inspirational talks and quotes, dedicating resources and efforts for the company's good. Meanwhile, the motivated ones are not valued and leave, leaving us frustrated at losing talent while we invest in motivation.
But what if we were to prepare our company for the good ones and make the cheeky ones uncomfortable?
