Films: The Big Short and Moneyball
4 recommendations for seeing what no one else looks at.
We've got a podcast that thinks long-term and a book that explains how things scale. Today, two films. Yes, two, because they tell the same story from opposite worlds.
The Big Short shows how a few people saw the 2008 crisis by looking where no one else was looking. Moneyball shows how a baseball team with no money won by signing the players everyone dismissed, because they focused on data the rest ignored.
What they have in common: both show that the best results come from being counterintuitive. From looking where no one looks, holding on when everyone tells you you're wrong, and trusting what you see over what the consensus says.
The businessperson who always does what everyone does gets what everyone gets.
Let me know which one you liked more.
